‘Active’ income is what most of us have. You go to work and give your time in exchange for money. Your pay per hour might go up, but your income is still limited by the number of hours you exchange. If for any reason you don’t work, then you don’t get paid. This can be because you are fired (structural changes, falling out with boss, recession etc), are unable to work due to ill health, you need to look after a loved one, or simply because you don’t like the job/company anymore. This lack of income is a problem if you don’t have any other income coming in as there are bills to pay.

‘Passive’ income is money that is earned without needing to actively work for it on an ongoing basis. Work is done upfront to set the income stream up, but the amount of work needed to ensure the income comes continues to be generated, is small. This enables you to not need to have a job, or if you are one of lucky few who love your job then you have the peace of mind/security that if this ever changes then there is no problem – you are choosing to work, not doing so out of necessity.

We at The PCA believe there are much more important things in life than money, but to really enjoy these things, we need to have time, headspace, peace of mind and security.

Alex started out as a typical university student (on a full means-tested student grant, because of his Mother’s lack of income) but within a couple of years progressed to owning a multi-million-pound portfolio and winning a number of National Awards. As a result people started approaching Alex to ask him to teach them how they could do the same. Alex took on his first mentee, Andi, in Jan 2014. She bought 3 houses in 6 months and never worked again. He has helped many more clients achieve their financial goals since but it wasn’t until he was invited to give his TEDx talk, which 2.4 million people watched in the first 2 years. that he saw the need to set up the PCA. With tens of thousands of people getting in touch with him asking for help, it was clear that he needed to be doing more to help more people achieve their financial goals and everything this makes available to them.

Today is a special day! The rents for house one have all magically appeared in my account and I’ve just travelled across stunning countryside (past people going to work) to join a great bunch of cycling mates… Thank you for helping me get £480 more than the agent quotes. Happy Days!!

My purchase has now been valued at £275,000 so not bad from the £135,000 purchase and £40,000 refurb. Property 2 is all good, and Mike and I are just buying No. 3… Thanks Alex.
